Before school report cards, ODE as a friend was a fine role. But once they got into the school rating business, they should have realized that there needed to be an audit system for the data the districts are submitting. This will cost more money and take more staff, which will have the state leaders gnashing their teeth. If ODE proposes to have a oversight role without increasing budget or staff, watch it fail!

$100,000.00 dollars to hire lawyers to "investigate" the data rigging? Hire me, I will do for 1/2 the cost in 1/2 the time!
The lawyers aren't there to investigate the data rigging, they are there for damage control. The guilty parties are going to have to "schooled" in how to respond to the State investigators questions.
Back when Jennifer and I lived in the CCS District (2005), we paid about 2200.00 a year in property taxes. So Gene Harris is willing to part with 45 YEARS of property tax revenue to help her and Steve Tankovitch out of the pit they engineered. What a waste of tax revenue!

Man, this just rolls along. Now Jill Dannemiller's name is mentioned! She is one of the best people I ever worked with. While working for ODE in 2004, it seems she was called in to investigate a rumor / anonymous letter that data changes were being made. The story says Gene Harris stopped the former Internal Auditor, Tina Abdella, from performing an investigation and asked ODE instead.
It is ALWAYS more difficult for an outsider to find chicanery than internal people! And if had ever met Steve Tankovitch in a non-professional situation, well he is one slick character! I am not surprised Jill gave the district a pass on good policies and procedures. The irony that after Jill was hired as CCS Director of Title One services, she turned into one of Steve's foes in the district, due to his antics with data "cleansing" and the difficulties that caused her and the reporting she had do as part of her job.

Whoa - this appeared on Dispatch website late August 2.
Columbus Dispatch article - democrats-want-to-view-school-attendance-investigation
OK, what the hell is Redfern up to now? This is not a political issue! The ODE investigation has just begun, there is nothing a records request would accomplish.
